Campaign Finance Reform

Joe believes that candidates running for office need to be transparent in how they are funding their campaigns.

In 2022, Joe introduced legislation that would require all candidates for office to file the same number of campaign finance reports at the same time - even if they don’t have a contested primary or general election.

Access to Public Records

In an effort to provide citizens with easier access to public budgets, Joe introduced legislation that would make public entity budgets available in digital form through the secretary of state’s website.

The legislation would require the public records administration to make PDF (portable document format) versions of the budgets of all public entities that submit a formal public budget to the public. Access to the digital version of the budget would then be made available through the internet facilities of the secretary of state.
